Asadex has recently released an update of his mod, one that he says improves realism. I've played this one for a couple of days, and I think he's done a pretty good job of getting it right. You can actually kill heros off, and capital ships actually take a LOT of damage before they are destroyed.

Resized veicles
rebalanced troops
camera zoom improved
halved health of all heroes
Land Bases has no troops spamming but more starting troops in guard ( usually doubled ).
Troops are not now fresh body for massacre but precious and limited resources.
general resizing and rebalancing.
Pure realism and tactic.
